Patients Beyond Borders Recognizes Ocean Dental Cancun for Healthcare Excellence

CancĂșn, Mexico – Patients Beyond Borders, a healthcare tourism resource recognized by outlets such as The New York Times, BBC, and The Wall Street Journal, has showcased Ocean Dental Cancun as one of the top destinations for dental tourism for US and Canadian residents. In recent years, the healthcare tourism industry has skyrocketed due to astronomical costs of many healthcare procedures. Among these procedures are implants, dentures, crowns, and other restorative dentistry, all of which are part of Ocean Dental Cancun’s practice.

Still, people sometimes worry about going abroad to get their dental work done. One of the biggest fears is a difference in medical standards between the US and Canada and Mexico. However, as the article notes, “Dr. Irma Gavaldon [Ocean Dental Cancun’s founder] is a dental veteral of more than 30 years who received her training at University of Michigan’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry program, with a Master’s degree in Restorative Dentistry.” She is certified both in Michigan and California and is well-acquainted with American expectations for healthcare.
Having now returned to Mexico with 30+ years of dental experience under her belt, she has opened a
top-notch clinic specializing in restorative dentistry. The clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including an in-house CAD/CAM machine. This device is truly the technology of the future—it works by uploading a picture of the final dental restorations and then goes to work sculpting the crowns, dentures, and bridges with extreme precision.

While many clinics have to outsource this technology, Ocean Dental Cancun keeps it right in their own lab for maximum quality control. This allows the lab to produce a large number of restorations, including “full contour crowns, bridges, veneers, abutments and dentures in all types of materials, including IPS e.max all-porcelain, zirconium, all noble, non noble, and acrylic.” When you add in the 19 specialists and assistants that make up the Ocean Dental team, the possibilities are endless. As a result, Ocean Dental Cancun receives rave reviews from its patients. They provide several additional patient services, including “five personal patient coordinators, disounted rates for nearby accomodations, free quotes and consultations, free airport pick-up and hotel shuttle, free teeth whitening on major dental treatments, and a free local cell phone.” No wonder they have over 2,000  patients coming through their doors each year! At Ocean Dental Cancun, the patient is always the first priority, so between the professionalism, state-of-the-art facilities, and customer service, it’s no wonder it’s been featured as one of the best.

Dental Tourism On the Rise

By Sarah Hirsch

Cancun, Mexico – Ideally, obtaining all the dental care you need would not be harder than going to your local dentist’s office and getting the procedures done. However, for many people in the US and Canada, that is not a reality. As prices for dental care remain astronomical and many important procedures such as implants, crowns, and bridges remain uncovered by insurance, more and more Americans and Canadians have been looking elsewhere for their dental treatments.

One of the most popular destinations for these treatments is Mexico, where the same procedures cost a fraction of the price of what they do in the US and Canada. However, many people are scared to go
abroad to a country they’re not familiar with to get something as delicate as dental work done.
Although this is understandable, many clinics have taken steps to ensure that their patients feel safe and welcome in their foreign country. One of these clinics, Ocean Dental Cancun, offers many patient care services to help people adjust to staying in a foreign country. For example, one of their most popular services is the shuttle. They provide free transportation to and from the airport and to and from appointments. This obviously makes transportation easier and safer—just one less thing to worry about. If accomodations are a problem, they offer help with booking hotels, and even have two cozy apartments available right down the street from the clinic. The apartments have air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and TV, along with everything else you would expect from a fully functional apartment. They also include beach and pool access for when you’re ready to get out into the sun! No matter what decision you make, though, you will be well taken care of.

The staff will work with you closely to make sure you have a pleasurable stay. They are friendly and available for whatever you might need, and are happy to help you with any questions before or during your stay. The most important goal at Ocean Dental Cancun is a good patient experience—something that transcends borders.

Ocean Dental Cancun Recognized As Top Clinic For Dental Tourism

By Sarah Hirsch
October 8, 2014

CancĂșn, Mexico -- Austin 24/7 TV has showcased Ocean Dental Cancun as one of the top destinations for dental tourism for US and Canadian residents, following Kim Connelly and several other patients throughout their stay in Cancun for dental work. Due to astronomical costs for restorative dental work in the US and Canada, many patients in need of implants, dentures, crowns, and more have been going abroad to save money.

Still, people sometimes worry about going abroad to get their dental work done. One of the biggest fears is a difference in medical standards between the US and Canada and Mexico. However, as one patient attests in the video, Ocean Dental Cancun has a “professional, modern office. Very similar to the one I went to in New York recently.” This is no coincidence: their head dentist, Dr. Irma Gavaldon, completed her graduate studies at the University of Michigan in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program, graduating with a Master’s in Restorative Dentistry. She then went on to get her certification in both Michigan and California. Having now returned to Mexico with 30+ years of dental experience under her belt, she has opened a top-notch clinic specializing in restorative dentistry.

One woman remarks that “they have better technology here than they do at our dentist at home… and they also make the crowns here. So it’s a much faster turnaround, where in the states it’s 2-3 weeks.”

As a result, Ocean Dental Cancun receives rave reviews from its patients. At the end, Kim says, “I would recommend it to everyone I know. I’m going to rave about it when I go home.” Considering the large patient base at Ocean Dental Cancun and their growing referral network, it’s easy to assume that she is one of many who feel the same way.
